There are several examples of this in the U.S., notably the AVAs Walla Walla and Columbia Gorge, both of which are in Washington and in Oregon. In fact one prominent AVA spans three states. The Columbia Valley AVA is over 11 million acres in size and is spread over parts of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
