A. They are all red grape varieties
B. They are all Italian grape varieties
C. They are all grape varieties described in their names as “Petit”
D. They are all red grape varieties, but white wine is made from each of them
C.
Petit Verdot and Petit Sirah are red varieties; Petit Meslier and Petit Manseng are white. What all of them share, however, is the word “Petit” in their names which refers to the size of the berries in the grape cluster, not to the impression of the wine. Petit Verdot, for example, can make red wines that are massive and tannic because in very small grape berries, there is so much more skin area relative to juice inside the berry. And the skins of grapes are one of the main sources of tannin.
