Kendall-Jackson’s Vintner’s Reserve Chardonnay, which retails for $17 a bottle, has been the best-selling Chardonnay in America for 33 years and counting. The first vintage (1982) sold out after a happy accident: According to The Washington Post, the wine did not complete fermentation and was slightly sweeter than expected. People loved it. A favorite in the Reagan-era White House, the Chardonnay became known as “Nancy’s wine.” The original Kendall-Jackson winery is in Santa Rosa, Sonoma Valley, California. Jackson Family Wines, a private corporation, now owns 40 wineries around the world.
