According to Food & Wine magazine’s report “Rules Italians Live By,” which of these should you never do in an Italian restaurant or (God forbid) in Italy itself? The following content is accessible for members only, please sign in.

A. Cut your spaghetti with a knife

B. Drink red wine with a fish dish

C. Drink an Aperol Spritz with your dinner

D. Have a cappuccino after lunch

While A and C would definitely be frowned upon by Italians (and mark you as a rube tourist), the answer is D. In Italy, and in Italian restaurants, cappuccino never follows lunch or dinner. Because cappuccinos are comprised of a lot of milk (which is filling), the proper time to drink one is exclusively in the morning according to Italian etiquette.
