According to a recent piece in The New York Times, there are now 42,000 McDonald’s fast-food restaurants around the world. The article goes on to report that on any given day, 84 million Americans eat fast food. In the year 2000, at one of the heights of McDonald’s popularity, 90% of American children ages 6 to 9 had visited a McDonald’s in any given month. Those children are now young Millennials, the demographic in the U.S. with the highest consumption of fast food.
