According to the International Chili Society (ICS), Homestyle Chili is the only type of chili that contains beans. The ICS hold chili cook-offs around the world, and although there are differing (and often contentious) opinions about regional chili, the organization has helped to codify the various styles of chili and streamline the dish for the sake of competition. February 27^th, 2025 is National Chili Day.
