Brut Champagne has long dominated in the US market. Extra Brut Champagne is experiencing a surge in popularity, growing at a faster rate than other categories, but it still makes up a smaller overall market share compared to traditional Brut. Nearly 11% of all the Champagne sold is Brut (which means it has less than 1.2% sugar) and tastes dry. By contrast, sales of uber dry Extra Brut Champagne (which has only 0 to 0.6 percent sugar) constitute just over 3% of all Champagne sales. Worldwide, the US is the leading market for Champagne in general.
