Malbec is an alternative name for the French grape Cot. In the mid nineteenth century Cot (Malbec) was brought from Bordeaux to Argentina where it is now the leading grape. There isn’t much Malbec left in Bordeaux (although there’s some). That said, the grape is still the historic grape of the region of Cahors in southwestern France.
