According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, residents of Washington D.C drank the most wine per capita in 2023. 1.07 gallons per person, to be exact. Delaware and New Hampshire also ranked high on the list, with .8 and .76 gallons per resident, which is largely in part due to the absence of sales tax which drives residents from neighboring states to cross the border for wine purchases. West Virginia pulled in the lowest spot, at only .11 gallons per person.
