Year the International Riesling Foundation (IRF) was formed to boost awareness and sales of Riesling. The foundation created the widely used “Riesling Taste Profile,” a simple back-label graphic that classifies wines as Dry, Medium Dry, Medium Sweet, or Sweet. Each category is determined not only by the wine’s residual sugar, but also by its acidity. The graphic has appeared on more than 26 million bottles, according to The Food Republic—an achievement worth celebrating on International Riesling Day.
